Question: Is it permissible for a sick Muslim woman to reveal her 'awrah to a non-Muslim female doctor, particularly if she is in a non-Muslim land?
Response:
It is permissible. As for His (Subhaanahu wa Ta`aala) saying:
{or their women}, Soorah an-Noor, Aayah 31
...regarding that which is permissible for a woman to reveal of her body to other women, some have said (the term):
{or their women}, Soorah an-Noor, Aayah 31
...excludes the non-Muslim woman, and this is not correct.
So it is permissible for her to reveal that which is necessary for the purposes of medical treatment or other than that and to deal with a non-Muslim woman as she would with a Muslim woman, unless she feared (the non-Muslim woman) will reveal anything private about her or she would spread her secrets, then this is not permissible. As for the issue regarding medical treatment, then it is permissible for the Muslim woman to seek treatment from a non-Muslim female doctor, and there is no harm in this.
