Question: I am the undersigned ‘Abdul-Qaadir, and I am 25 years of age. I wish to ask regarding a Christian woman who is 25 years of age; I promised her that when she becomes a Muslim I will marry her, and now she has embraced Islaam should I marry her, keeping in mind that my father is strongly against this marriage [taking place]?

Response: If the situation is as mentioned, then indeed you must fulfill your promise to the aforementioned woman, and that is to marry her; And your father being against this marriage [taking place] is not to be taken into account.

And with Allaah lies all success, and may Allaah send prayers and salutations upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his noble companions.
