Ridding yourself of haraam wealth

Reference: http://www.alfawzan.af.org.sa/node/16184

Question: I acquired some money from haraam means, and I have since repented sincerely to Allaah. After having repented, I feared [my] wealth may be a source of loss for me, as I had also gotten married using this money. I now wish to use this money and perform ‘umrah and hajj with it, so what is the opinion of the shaykh regarding that?

Response: If you have any haraam wealth, and have since repented to Allaah from having acquired it, but still have some left, then it is obligatory upon you to rid yourself of it by using it for good causes, or giving it to those who are [most] deserving of it [from the poor and destitute].
