Two eyelashes fell off after wiping the face from supplicating

Reference: Fataawa al-Hajj wal-‘Umrah waz-Ziyaarah – Page 58

Question: I performed the obligatory [first] Hajj 2 years ago and that was the first time. On the day of ‘Arafah I was supplicating to my Lord on that great day. My eyes reddened and when I finished, I wiped my hands over my face and tears, as a result two eyelashes fell off. I had not intended this so is there anything required of me in this case?

Response: May Allaah accept from you and us and may He multiply your reward for your adherence and your concentration and your deed which you had intended for the Face (Sake) of Allaah. As for that which you have mentioned of your eyelashes falling off, then there is no expiation for you to make, in shaa.-Allaah, since you had not intended that and it was not done on purpose. Allaah has forgiven that which is done mistakenly or forgetfully, and may Allaah grant you success.

Important note: Wiping the face after supplicating is not from the Sunnah, rather it is an innovation, and this fatwa does not in any way or form imply it’s permissibility or acceptance.
