Shaykh Sa’d al-‘Ateeq said:
Rajab is a sacred month.
Allaah has commanded us in this month to perform a great act of worship. What is it?
Should we perform Hajj?
There is no Hajj in it.
Should we perform ‘Umrah? Some people perform ’Umrah, but it is not proven that the Prophet ﷺ established it as a Sunnah specifically for Rajab.
Do we celebrate the Israa. and Mi’raaj (the night journey from Makkah to al-Quds, and then the ascension to the Heavens)?
The truth is, it is neither historically authentic nor verified that the Israa. and Mi’raaj is an occasion to be celebrated in the first place – so how can it be celebrated specifically on the 27th or any other day?
Do we pray in Rajab the Salaah al-Raghaa.ib صلاة الرغائب ? [That is] not correct.
[And what about] Salaah at-Tasbeeh صلاج التسبيح ? [That is also] not correct. All of these are innovations (bid’ah).
Allaah only said:
{so do not wrong yourselves during them} at-Towbah 9:36[So] do not defile yourself with sins.
The meaning of this is that sins [committed] in Rajab are more serious and more dangerous to your religion in the sight of Allaah than in the month of Jumaada and others.
So do not wrong yourselves during it.
