Arabic Language Book 1
Arabic Language Book 1 is the first volume in Dr. V. ‘Abdur-Raheem’s Lessons in Arabic Language series, produced by the Islaamic University of Madeenah for non-native speakers beginning their study of the Arabic language. It forms the foundation of a four-book course used widely by students of Islaamic knowledge who need to read classical texts and understand the Qur.aan and Sunnah in their original language.
This first book introduces the Arabic alphabet, basic vocabulary, and simple sentence structures through short, graded lessons. Each lesson builds directly on the one before it, so students are expected to work through the material in sequence rather than skipping ahead. The book is written entirely in Arabic, with explanations designed to be understood through repetition and context rather than translation – a method intended to train the student to think in Arabic from the outset.
Alongside the main book, a set of personal study notes has been prepared by students who have completed the course, offering practical clarifications on points that are often difficult for beginners. These are a useful companion once this book has been completed and the student is ready to move on.
