Book 3 Study Notes
These are Abu ‘Abdullaah’s personal book 3 study notes to Dr. V. ‘Abdur-Raheem’s Lessons in Arabic Language, focusing specifically on the topic of i’raab – one of the more demanding areas covered in the third book in the series.
I’raab is the branch of Arabic grammar concerned with how the ending of a word changes according to its grammatical role within a sentence – whether it functions as a subject, an object, or in another grammatical position. Correctly identifying i’raab is essential for reading Qur.aanic Arabic and classical texts accurately, since the meaning of a sentence can shift depending on how a word is voweled and inflected. These notes were prepared to help clarify this particular topic for students progressing through Book 3.
The notes were compiled by Abu ‘Abdullaah, a graduate of the Islaamic University of Madeenah, having completed the Arabic Language programme at the Institute of Arabic Language before progressing to the Faculty of Sharee’ah, from which he graduated in 2004.
