Shaykh Saalih al-Fowzaan said:
We keep away from the innovators [ مبتدعة ] and shun them until they abandon their innovation, so that they do not influence their companions.
And this is how the Salaf (Pious Predecessors) used to keep away from the innovators; they would not mix with them and considered them like people infected with a disease.
Nowadays, if a contagious disease appears, people distance themselves from the sick person for fear of infection, and they are not reproached for that because it is [a means of] taking precaution.
So, how can they not distance themselves from someone afflicted with the disease of the heart? – and refuge is sought in Allaah [from that].
[And likewise] the disease of deviation, [and] the disease of misguidance – how can they not distance themselves from that?
