When meeting [other] men, I have never seen a man smile as much as Ayyoob as-Sikhtiyaanee.
Restricting ties of brotherhood
Whoever restricts ties of brotherhood to only those without [any] fault[s], will have few friends. And whoever is only happy when he has his friend to himself, will always be angry.
Let us remain brothers in Islaam
I have not seen [anyone] more sensible than ash-Shaafi'ee. One day, I debated him on a [particular religious] issue, and [afterwards] we parted.
