When Ahmad ibn Harb رحمه الله would sit before the barber to have his moustache trimmed, he would engage in the glorification of Allaah. So the barber would say to him

I have not memorised anything and then forgotten it
I have not heard anything except that I have memorised it, and I have not memorised anything and then forgotten it.
Knowledge is better than wealth
Knowledge is better than wealth. Knowledge protects you and you [have to] protect wealth.
The wise man does not argue
The wise man neither argues nor seeks to prevail through stratagem; rather, he conveys his wisdom. If it is accepted, he praises Allaah, and if it is rejected, he praises Allaah.
Do not waste this knowledge
Do not waste this knowledge [over] which we have laboured.
