ينبغي لطالب العلم أن يحفظ وقته لأنه سيندم على ما ضيعه منه في المستقبل، ومن لطائف الأخبار في ذلك: أن العلامة ابن مانع رأى الشيخ عبدالله بن حمد الراجحي يقرأ في جريدة، فقال له – كما أخبرني -: اقرأ في العلم خير لك من الجريدة، وستندمون على أوقاتكم هذه التي تضيعونها، قال شيخنا الراجحي:

Shaykh Saalih al-‘Usaymee said:
It is befitting for the student of knowledge to protect and preserve his time, because [sometime] in the future he will [reflect over this and] regret the time he has wasted.
And from the poignant stories regarding this is that the ‘Allaamah Ibn Maani’ saw [the young student] Shaykh ‘Abdullaah ibn Hamad ar-Rajihee reading a newspaper. So he said to him [as I was informed]:
To read [something beneficial] of knowledge is better for you than this newspaper; you will [indeed] regret this time of yours that you have wasted.
Our Shaykh ar-Raajihee said [to us]:
After some time, I found I had a great sense of regret!! So how [would the ‘Allaamah Ibn Maani’ feel today] if he saw a student [busy] on WhatsApp or any other social media app during the lesson? What would he say?!
