Lying for real or as a joke
It is not befitting to lie for real or as a joke, and nor for any of you to promise your child something, and then not to fulfil [your promise] to him.
From the means which aid uprightness
Maintaining close ties with the scholars
Backbiting is more severe
Backbiting is more severe [in sin] than [having an outstanding] loan.
Returning to the scholars for guidance
So by the permission of Allaah, by returning to the scholars [for guidance] there is salvation from the fitan.
The way of the scholars in seeking knowledge
The first thing with which the student [of knowledge] begins with [is] memorisation of the Qur.aan. Then he memorises a short text from every subject, starting with the most important.
Rectifying the intention
It is befitting for the student of knowledge to rectify his intention [solely for the Sake of Allaah], for indeed the loss of [a] sincere [intention] prevents the acceptance of [righteous] actions.
Breaking the fast with that which is haraam
A man fasts from that which is halaal and good, and breaks his fast with that which is haraam and bad; the flesh of his brother.
Respecting time
A watch is not just [used] for knowing the time, rather [it is] for respecting it.
They spoke for the honour of Islaam
Because they spoke for the honour of Islaam, and the salvation of the soul, and the pleasure of Allaah.
