Shaykh Saalih al-Fowzaan said:

Every year, at the end of the Hijree year – at the conclusion of the month of Dhul-Hijjah, they enjoin certain acts of remembrance and worship.

[For instance, they tell people to] fast on the last day of Dhul-Hijjah.

They congratulate one another on the new year, celebrating it in the same way they celebrate ‘Eed al-Fitr or ’Eed al-Adhaa.

All of these [activities] are nonsense and falsehoods for which Allaah has sent down no authority.
