[With] death approaching me, [I am] far from [what] I [had] hoped [for myself], [and] my [good] deeds are insufficient.
The best of actions [are those that] oppose personal desire.
If the remembrance of death departed my heart, I would certainly fear my heart[‘s pursuit of desires] will corrupt me.
How can one be in the morning when his Lord demands he fulfil [his] religious obligations, and…
A believer will never be complete until he prefers his religion over his desires, and he will never perish until he prefers his desires over his religion.
You will not find (experience) the sweetness of worship until you place a barrier between you and your desires.
He who follows his desires is prohibited from guidance, and falls into opposing the Sharee’ah, and [as a result] is a cause of splitting the jamaa’ah.
Do not sit with the people of innovation and desires, nor argue with them, nor listen to them.
