Having a good expectation of Allaah
I asked al-Khuraybee regarding at-tawakkul, and he said: “I believe that at-tawakkul is having a good expectation of Allaah and trusting in Him.”

Indeed it is my falling short [of sufficient good deeds] that I weep over.

Good character and minimal speech
Abul-Qaasim was of sound ‘aqeedah, good character, and minimal speech; [in fact] there was no-one of his time comparable to him.
The most dishonest of the people
The most dishonest of the people is the one who returns to his sins [after repenting for them]. And the most ignorant of the people is the one who is arrogant about his good deeds.
5,000 or more in attendance, learning
And in the gatherings of Ahmad ibn Hanbal رحمه الله, there would be about 5,000 or more, with about 500 [of them] writing, while the rest would be learning good manners [from him].
