When children are upon goodness, is this a blessing [from Allaah]; and when they are corrupt, are they a curse?
Is the corruption of children [through poor nurturing considered as] a tribulation?
From the greatest of causes for the uprightness of the heart and its protection [from harm] is the plentiful reading of the qur.aan.
They are adversaries, yet he [refers to him as] “my brother”!
The one who safeguards himself the most, is the one who protects his tongue the most [from false and idle speech]…
Maintaining close ties with the scholars
Some children give their parents gifts, and this is nice, and being good to them, and [a show of] affection [to them] – may Allaah reward them with good.
If the affairs of the leader are upright for you, then increase in praising Allaah and being grateful to Him [for this blessing].
I accompanied [‘Abdullaah] Ibn ‘Own for 24 years, and [during that time] I am not aware the angels recorded any sin against him.
