Kissing the forehead of the elderly is [an act of] reverence and honour [towards them]. It is [merely] a practice and not an act of worship; as [can be] seen from this [narration]:
al-‘Abbaas ibn ‘Abdil-Muttalib – the uncle of the Prophet ﷺ – entered upon the Prophet ﷺ; he ﷺ stood up and kissed him between the eyes, and sat him to his right.And the hadeeth is authentic, [as reported] in Silsilah as-Saheehah of our Shaykh [al-Albaanee] no.1041.
