Matters related to shaving off the beard
Indeed, there are 4 matters related to shaving off the beard, and they are
The worship of other than Allaah
How can you [claim to] single out Allaah alone for worship, while you wear that which indicates the worship of other than Him?
He must remedy this harm
So whoever commits [a deed] which Allaah and His Messenger have forbidden, has harmed his religion; and he must remedy this harm by repentance and turning back [from this misdeed].
The pleasure of food
Indeed one will not find pleasure of food when ill, so how will he find pleasure in worship whilst sinning?
The remembrance of Allaah is of two types
The remembrance of Allaah is [of] two [types]: i) The remembrance with the tongue, and that is good and beautiful; - and
Remembering Allaah in the marketplace
The likes of the one who remembers Allaah in the marketplace, is comparable to a green [and healthy] tree amongst dead trees.
More beloved to me than a voluntary hajj
For me to give [even] a dirham in charity to an orphan or a destitute is more beloved to me than [a voluntary] hajj after [having performed] the obligatory first hajj.
Better than the voluntary Hajj
Ibraaheem ibn Tahmaan departed for [the voluntary] hajj. [Along the way] he passed by Neesaaboor. [There] he found them to be upon the speech (teachings) of Jahm [ibn Safwaan]. So he said
Potbellied and disgraced
[There was a time] it used to be the case a Muslim would [feel] disgraced if he was told he was potbellied!
