Does not realise he is dreaming until he wakes up
One who is asleep does not realise he is dreaming until he wakes up, likewise, one who is negligent of the Hereafter does not realise what he has lost until after death reaches him.
Bury him where he dies
On 30 Jumada Thani 1414, when asked about the will within which the deceased requested burial in Madeenah, Shaykh Ibn Baaz said: This is not befitting; Whenever anyone dies, he is to be buried in the town in which he dies.
Made wudhoo before he died
I saw ‘Abdullaah ibn Busr make wudhoo, and therafter he رضي الله عنه died.
Never did I see anyone who remembered death more than him
Never did I sit in the gathering of Sufyaan, except that there was mention of death, [and] never did I see anyone who remembered death more than him.
He would quietly stand the entire night in prayer
Ayyoob as-Sikhtiyaanee used to quietly stand the entire night in prayer, and in the morning [at the time of Fajr] he would raise his voice as if [giving the impression] he had just awoken at that time.
Reciting Quraan before he died
I was with al-Junayd when death was approaching him, and he completed [reciting] the Qur.aan, then began [reciting] Soorah al-Baqarah – reciting seventy aayahs before he died.
Being charitable to relatives
Never has a relative of mine who had an outstanding loan died, except that I paid it off for him.
Take from your life for your death
If you live until the evening, then do not expect to live until the following morning. And if you live until the morning, then do not expect to see the evening. Take from your health for your sickness and from your life for your death.
As if your were a stranger or passer by
Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a passer by.
