Being preoccupied with regret over time which has [since] passed is a waste of the present time.

We are all sinful
We are all sinful, and we wash our hearts [of them] with the ‘soap’ of repentance.
From the characteristics of those who are truthful
The truthful person [is one who] restricts his speech, food, sleep, and mixing with others [to only that which is necessary]…
A time of great trials and tribulations
[As an ummah], we are in a time of great trials and tribulations, and nothing can save us from these trials and tribulations except Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala, and thereafter beneficial knowledge.
The people who err the most
Indeed, the people who err the most, are those who engage the most in mentioning the mistakes of others.
Rectify that which is between you and Allaah
Indeed, you are not able to please all of the people, so rectify that which is between you and Allaah, and thereafter do not be concerned about [pleasing] the people.
Strive hard in lowering your gaze
[The need for the] safeguarding of [one’s] eyes is much greater than [the need for the] safeguarding of [one’s] tongue.
Spreading the faults and shortcomings of the leaders
It is not from [the etiquettes of] giving advice to spread the faults and shortcomings of the leaders, since that fills the hearts with anger and hate towards the [established and recognised] leaders.
Not from the muttaqoon until…
A man is not [considered to be] from amongst the muttaqoon [الْمُتّقُوْن] until he takes himself to account [to a degree] more than taking his partner to account…
That which we have witnessed
And those of sound intellect should ponder at the [current] state of the world and reflect [on this].
