The darkness of the night is illumination for the heart…
Reading the Qur.aan aplenty
From the greatest of causes for the uprightness of the heart and its protection [from harm] is the plentiful reading of the qur.aan.
We are all sinful
We are all sinful, and we wash our hearts [of them] with the ‘soap’ of repentance.
Allaah fills their heart with eemaan
[There are] three [categories of people] in whom [should these habits] exist, then Allaah fills their heart with eemaan…
With gentleness and a love for good
So, there is nothing more beneficial for the heart than dealing with people with gentleness and a love for good for them.
A sound heart
…and the shortest of paths to paradise is soundness[1]of the heart.
Medicine for the heart and mind
Recitation of the Qur.aan works on the diseases of the heart and mind [like] how honey works on the deficiencies of the body.
O Allaah! Make firm the Qur.aan in our hearts
He then uttered this dhikr, and asked Allaah to make firm the Qur.aan in his heart; thereafter, he never forgot the Qur.aan.
His heart is empty of the love of Allaah
So if you see a man whose taste and desire is for listening to verses [of poetry] rather than verses [of the Qur.aan], and for listening to music rather than the Qur.aan…
