Keep a protective eye over your children
Then, as for you O Father! Observe your children[’s activities] – [even] outside the home. Where did they go? Who do they mix with?
Do not be negligent in watching over your children
[And] many of them are very negligent [of their responsibility] towards their children.
When would he make a profit?!
It is not befitting for the seeker [of good] to neglect the nights and days of virtue.
The burden borne by teachers
al-Qaadhee Husayn رحمه الله narrates regarding al-Qaffaal رحمه الله – his teacher, that many-a-time he would become tearful whilst teaching; he would then raise his head and say
Medicine, a third of knowledge
ash-Shaafi’ee رحمه الله grieved at how the Muslims had neglected [the knowledge of] medicine, and he would say
