Humayd at-Taweel narrates on the authority of Abu Qulaabah who said:
If displeasing news reaches you about your [Muslim] brother, then do your best to find an excuse for him, and if you are unable to find an excuse for him, then tell yourself:
Maybe there is an excuse for my brother which I do not know of.
