Questioner: Likewise, regarding the [first] ten days [of Dhul-Hijjah], many people fast from their beginning through to [and not including] the tenth day; so is there any [authentic] proof to confirm that [practice]?

Shaykh: «There are no days during which righteous deeds…» – al-Bukhaaree, Abu Daawood
and Ibn Maajah. Have you heard this hadeeth [before]?

Questioner: Yes, I have heard it.

Shaykh: Is fasting a righteous deed, or not?

Questioner: Yes [it is a righteous deed].

Shaykh: Is fasting a righteous deed, or not?

Questioner: Yes…yes [it is a righteous deed].

Shaykh: Is it a righteous deed?

Questioner: Yes [it is a righteous deed].

Shaykh: In that case, it is included [in the hadeeth].
