Indeed, you are not able to please all of the people, so rectify that which is between you and Allaah, and thereafter do not be concerned about [pleasing] the people.

Kissing the forehead of the elderly is [an act of] reverence and honour [towards them]. It is [merely] a practice and not an act of worship; as [can be] seen from this [narration]…

The example of the believer is like the pearl; wherever it is [found], its beauty is with it (i.e. wherever he may be, his beautiful characteristics accompany him).
Spreading the faults and shortcomings of the leaders
It is not from [the etiquettes of] giving advice to spread the faults and shortcomings of the leaders, since that fills the hearts with anger and hate towards the [established and recognised] leaders.
Harsh in character with his family
Why do many people have an element of severity [in their character] towards their wife and their children…
The most tender hearted of people
Shu’bah was the most tender [hearted] of people; he would give the seeker [of aid] whatever was possible for him [to give].
Lazy people
The lazy ones are the most distressed, depressed and saddest of the people…
Not from the muttaqoon until…
A man is not [considered to be] from amongst the muttaqoon [الْمُتّقُوْن] until he takes himself to account [to a degree] more than taking his partner to account…
