The truthful person [is one who] restricts his speech, food, sleep, and mixing with others [to only that which is necessary].

An elevated level of manners
Indeed this, my brother, has ninety-nine ewes, and I have one ewe; so he said, ‘Entrust her to me,’ and he overpowered me in speech. Saad 38:23 Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen رحمه الله commented
With gentleness and a love for good
So, there is nothing more beneficial for the heart than dealing with people with gentleness, and a love for good for them.
The people of truth do not lie
By Allaah, we would never lie, and nor do we know what lying is.
Rectify that which is between you and Allaah
Indeed, you are not able to please all of the people, so rectify that which is between you and Allaah, and Thereafter do not be concerned about [pleasing] the people.
The one who safeguards himself the most
The one who safeguards himself the most, is the one who protects his tongue the most [from false and idle speech], and is the busiest of them in terms of his religion, and is one who exerts himself…
Kissing the elderly on the forehead
Kissing the forehead of the elderly is [an act of] reverence and honour [towards them]. It is [merely] a practice and not an act of worship; as [can be] seen from this [narration]
A sound heart
…and the shortest of paths to Paradise is soundness* of the heart.
The example of the believer is like the pearl
The example of the believer is like the pearl; wherever it is [found], its beauty is with it (i.e. wherever they may be, their beautiful character accompanys them).
Spreading the faults and shortcomings of the leaders
It is not from [the etiquettes of] giving advice to spread the faults and shortcomings of the leaders, since that fills the hearts with anger and hate towards the [established and recognised] leaders.
