Shaykh Ibraaheem al-Muhaymeed said:
I am approaching 70; between me and 70 is [but] a year.
If you were to ask me:
‘What is your advice to every Muslim?’– listen to this, it is [just] one word:
Overlook things as much as you are able.Don’t make a problem out of every little or big thing.
As much as you are able to turn a blind eye [do so] – [whether] at home, on the road, at work, or in the masjid.
Don’t turn everything into a problem or an argument.
[Adopting] this [approach] is much better for your health.
Turn a blind eye; out of ten situations, overlook eight of them.
Don’t be like a matchstick that ignites – getting angry over every single issue.
Don’t be like a cat[1] pouncing at every little thing [that moves].
We will stop here [now] at these few minutes, and may Allaah reward you all with good.
[1] The Shaykh used the word مُش – which in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia refers to a ‘cat’.
