Shaykh Saalih al-Fowzaan said:

Ponder death at every moment, because no one knows at which moment he will die.

[So] he expects he may die in his bed, or die in his car, or die while eating his food – he may die in any place.

[Allaah ﷻ says:]

{Wherever you may be, death will overtake you, even if you should be within towers of lofty construction.} – an-Nisaa 04:78

When death comes, it will not be averted.

And repentance – if it comes at the moment of death – will not be accepted.

The point [for reflection] is not in the length of one’s life – even if it reaches hundreds of years.

Rather, the point [for reflection] lies in how that life is spent, and the good or evil that is attained during it.

So life – even if it is short – if it is spent in obedience to Allaah, then it is long.

And if it is long, but spent in disobedience to Allaah, then it is short, and there is no blessing or good in it.

For life is limited, the days are numbered, death is near, and the Hereafter is impending. So, be prepared – always and forever.

Persevere in the obedience of Allaah ﷻ, and keep away from disobeying Allaah.

Yes, a Muslim may fall short, or be negligent, or make a mistake, but Allaah – in His Mercy and Grace – has opened His door to the repentant, and called upon you to repent.

And He has promised you that He will respond to you, because of His knowledge ﷻ that the human being is prone to error, and prone to falling short.

So, Allaah has bestowed favour upon him with repentance, called upon him to [turn to] it, and promised him that He will respond to him if he turns to Him in [sincere] repentance.
