Ponder death at every moment, because no one knows at which moment he will die. [So] he expects he may die in his bed, or die in his car, or die while eating his food – he may die in any place.

In preparation for what comes after death
O Muslim, and indeed every every individual in this world, know that your existence here is temporary, and determined by a time known only to Him who decrees it. Allaah ﷻ says
Do not waste this precious life
So my advice to my brothers – not [specifically] regarding the internet, nor the satellite channels – is to fear Allaah regarding themselves, and to know that they have not been created for this…
Your appointed time is approaching
The truth is that a happy life is not [attained] with an abundance of wealth, nor an abundance of sustenance, nor superficially nice appearances – which in reality are not-so-nice.
The state of our existence in this world
The Prophet ﷺ said: What is the world to me? What am I to the world? What am I in this world but like a rider who seeks shade under a tree, then he moves on and leaves it behind.
This is how the life of this world is
as-Salaam ‘Alaykum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuhu. He was born yesterday, [and we welcomed the] blessing of the birth, and all Praise is due to Allaah for safety and protection.
Leave that which preoccupies you away from Allaah
Abu Sulaymaan ad-Daaraanee رحمه الله said about asceticism (zuhd): ‘It is to leave that which preoccupies you [away] from Allaah.’
Everything will come to pass
Asceticism is looking at the world with an eye that [some day] everything will come to pass, and thereby it appears insignificant in your eyes.
His regret before dying
And during the final days before his death in al-Qal’ah prison, Ibn Taymiyyah – may he be showered with forgiveness – said
As a father, it is not your job
As a father, it is not your job to remove the thorns from the path of your child – out of fear they may scratch. Indeed the thorns will never cease, and you will not live forever!!
