Shaykh ‘Abdur-Razzaaq al-Badr said:

Firstly, before starting, the reader[1] – may Allaah reward him – prayed for mercy upon the author of the book [whereupon]: he said:

‘The author – may Allaah have mercy upon him – said…’

– and he did well in that because he acted upon the saying of Allaah ﷻ:

{and say, “My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small.”} al-Israa. 15:24

He acted upon the saying of Allaah ﷻ:

{and say, “My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small.”} al-Israa. 15:24

And this is from the most important supplications a child should make for their parents.

[This is] from the most important supplications a child should make for their parents, in accordance with the command of Allaah ﷻ – because Allaah commanded it.

Allaah said:

{and say, “My Lord, have mercy upon them…”}

– this is a command from the Lord of the worlds, so attention should be paid to this.

The most important thing a child should pray for – for their parents is this, which Allaah has commanded with in the Qur.aan:

{and say, “My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small.”} al-Israa. 15:24

And this supplication should be made frequently by the child for his parents – whether his parents are alive or deceased.

Whether his parents are alive or deceased.

[1] The reader is the son of Shaykh ‘Abdur-Razzaaq al-Badr – ما شاء الله تبارك الله – which is why the Shaykh is offering this beneficial reminder – as he is reading from a book authored by the Shaykh himself.
