[Regarding] the one who dies whilst being unable to settle a debt due to his poor circumstances, does his soul remain suspended [due to this debt]?

Is it permissible to supplicate for an openly immoral sinner (faasiq), who does not fulfil his religious obligations?
I attended the funeral of al-Ahnaf in Koofaha, and was amongst those who descended down into his grave, and when I had leveled it [ready for his body to then be placed inside], I saw how it had been made wide and spacious – as far as my eye could see!
