Shaykh Sulaymaan ar-Ruhaylee said:

I ask Allaah to have mercy upon the deceased [from among the] Muslims.

When a Muslim dies due to the Coronavirus, and it is not possible to wash him nor do tayammum upon him, then [in this situation the requirement to do so is] overlooked, and he is to be shrouded and prayed upon [as he is].

And if it is not possible to pray over him in the presence of his body, then he is to be prayed upon at his graveside if possible, otherwise the prayer over him must be prayed in his absence.

And whoever says that he is to be treated as a martyr in the matter [of preparing his body for burial and his funeral prayer], then he has erred, for indeed that is specific to the martyr on the battlefield.
