And among the beneficial matters is to know that people’s harm to you, especially through bad words, does not harm you, but rather harms them.

Crying because of the fear of Allaah
When Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir رحمه الله wept, he would wipe his tears over his face and beard, saying
Whoever fears Allaah
Whoever fears Allaah, then no-one will be able to harm him, and whoever fears other than Allaah, then no-one will be able to benefit him.
Repent and turn back to Allaah
So whoever commits [a deed] which Allaah and His Messenger have forbidden, has harmed his religion; and he must remedy this harm by repentance and turning back [to Allaah].
If knowledge does not benefit you
[Regarding] knowledge, if it does not benefit you, it will harm you.
