Sincerely repenting to Allaah

Question: She was pregnant for [about] a month and a half, and then aborted the pregnancy – unaware of the ruling regarding that; after she learnt about the prohibition [of aborting a pregnancy], she was deeply remorseful. So is there anything required of her?

Response: So long as she repented to Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) from what she had done, then the repentance wipes away what has preceded [of sins]. And Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) says:

{Say, “O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allaah. Indeed, Allaah forgives all sins}, soorah az-Zumar, aayah 53

So whoever sincerely repents to Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala), then Allaah will forgive him his sins.
