Making the most of Ramadhaan

Reference: Siyar A'laam an-Nubalaa v5 p269

Salaam ibn Abi Mutee' رحمه الله said:

Qataadah would complete [reading] the Qur.aan every seven days.

And when Ramadhaan arrived, he would complete [reading the Qur.aan] every three days.

And when the last ten [days and nights of Ramadhaan] arrived, he would complete [reading the Qur.aan] every night.

Translator's note:
While from one angle this worship is something praiseworthy, it must be noted that adhering to the Sunnah takes precedence, as it has been authentically reported that the Prophet ﷺ prohibited 'Abdullaah ibn 'Umar رضي الله عنهما from reading the entire Qur.aan in less than three days and nights, as he ﷺ said:

«Whoever reads the [entire] Qur.aan in less than three [days and nights] has not understood it» - Saheeh Abu Daawood no.1394

And commenting on this, Shaykh al-Albaanee said:

“And what has been reported about some of the salaf [which is] in opposition to the authentic Sunnah does not contradict it, since it is apparent that it (the above narration) had not reached them.” - Silsilatul-Ahaadeeth as-Saheehah v5 p601
