Questioner: Noble Shaykh, may Allaah grant you success. The questioner says: Some of my brothers among the students of knowledge have boycotted me because I did not take a stance against so-and-so by declaring him an innovator and boycotting him.

Shaykh: Hmmm?!

Questioner: He says, some…

Shaykh: Yes. [So they say]:

“[since] you are not boycotting such-and-such, [then] we are boycotting you”

…and:

“[since] you are not declaring such-and-such a disbeliever, [then] we are declaring you a disbeliever.”

This is forbidden, and not permissible! [Such behaviour is] aggression, and spreading evil among the people.

Instead of reconciling between them, they boycott the one who strives for reconciliation, [and] does not enter into disputes, and prefers safety, and they declare him an innovator, or an overt sinner, or a disbeliever.

This is a fitnah (tribulation) from the shayaateen of mankind and the jinn – [inflicted] among the general Muslims.

So how is it among the students of knowledge – who claim they are students of knowledge, or the Shaykhs, who enter into this evil path and stir conflict between the Muslims and among the brothers?

Yes.
