Shaykh ‘Abdur-Razzaaq al-Badr said:

[It is important that you] strive to make the most of your youth – and [that] you seize [the opportunity of] this great and precious stage of your life – the stage of [your] youth.

And the Prophet ﷺ encouraged the youth to take advantage of it.

He said:

«Seize five [things] before five [others]»

– and mentioned among them:

«your youth, before your old age.» – Musannaf Ibn Abee Shaybah v7, p77

And he ﷺ also informed [us] that the stage of youth will be subject to a specific, special questioning on the Day of Judgment – because it is the stage of strength, vitality, and zeal.

So if you are now in your youth, moving with strength and energy, covering distances without fatigue, a day will come when you will not be like that.

If you are currently reading in your youth, seeing the fine lines and letters without glasses, you may eventually need them at a later stage of your life.

So the stage of youth is a very precious and extremely valuable stage. And [so] the youth should seize it, [just] as the noble Prophet ﷺ advised, and should take great care in their youth to build themselves upon [sound] knowledge.

So I advise you, for the sake of Allaah ﷻ to seize this opportunity – [this is] a loving brother’s advice.

[Ponder and reflect a moment] these are but a few, limited years that will soon pass.

Therefore, commit yourself in them to diligence, perseverance, and striving [upon righteousness] and patiently restrain your soul [while doing so].

And you will see the impact of this patience and striving on yourself – in your worship and in your knowledge, by the permission of Allaah ﷻ. And ask Allaah ﷻ for success.

And this poetic text contains very great and extremely valuable insights, and is important for a person’s righteousness, his uprghtness [and integrity], and the purification of his soul, and his following the path of the fortunate in their obedience, seeking nearness to Allaah, and safeguarding their time.
