From the signs of a relapse [in your eemaan] is that: you hear the adhaan, and do not respond [by attending the prayer]; you miss the Fajr prayer, and are not concerned [about it]; you have abandoned.
Seek repentance, regularly
It is not befitting for the believer to begin the day or the evening except in a state of repentance, for indeed he does not know when death may strike – [whether] in the morning or the evening.
We are all sinful
We are all sinful, and we wash our hearts [of them] with the ‘soap’ of repentance. Translator’s note:
The Prophet ﷺ said:
When a slave commits a sin, a black spot appears on his heart.
How pitiful is the state of the son of Aadam
[How] pitiful is [the state of] the son of Aadam; carrying rocks (physical hardship) is easier for him than [the spiritual struggle] to abandon sins.
Falling short
Indeed it is my falling short [of sufficient good deeds] that I weep over.
