Question: This questioner is asking – O Shaykh – what is the ruling regarding marriage with the intention to divorce?

And if such [a marriage] took place, what is the ruling regarding it?

Response: Marriage with the intention to divorce is considered to be cheating towards the other party.

That is because they married [their daughter] to you on the basis that it is a marriage of intent and continuation – whilst you harbour [an intention that] this marriage is temporary; therein therefore is cheating and deceit towards the woman and her family.

You should marry with the intention to maintain [the marriage], and if she proves suitable for you, then you continue [in marriage] with her.

And if she proves unsuitable for you, part from her without making the intention to do so at the time of the [marriage] contract.

Yes.
