لا يجوز للمسلم القيام إعظامًا لأي علم وطني أو سلام وطني، بل هو من البدع المنكرة التي لم تكن في عهد رسول الله ﷺ، ولا في عهد خلفائه الراشدين رضي الله عنهم، وهي منافية لكمال التوحيد الواجب وإخلاص التعظيم لله وحده، وذريعة إلى الشرك.

issued a ruling, saying:
It is not permissible for the Muslim to stand out of respect for any national flag or salute. It is a reprehensible innovation which was not [practised] in the time of the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ, and nor in the time of his successors رضي الله عنهم. And this [practise] is contrary to the perfection of tawheed and the sincere devotion to Allaah alone; [instead] it is a means to shirk.
