Men are of three types

Reference: ash-Shu’ab – Volume 2, Page 1016

Abdullaah ibn Shaqeeq said:

Men are [of] three [types]:

A man who does a good deed, and then hopes for, and anticipates its reward.

And a man who does an evil deed, then repents and hopes for, and anticipates forgiveness.

And the third [type of] man – a persistent liar who persists upon sin and says I hope for, and anticipate forgiveness.

So he who knows himself to be upon evil, then it is befitting for his fear and apprehension to predominate his hope and anticipation.
