Giving that which you love in charity

A man came asking [for charity] at the door of ar-Rabee’ ibn Khuthaym رحمه الله. So he (ar-Rabee’) said [to his family]:
‘Feed this man with sugar.’ So his family said:
‘Rather, he only wants [whatever] scraps and morsels [we have].’ So he (ar-Rabee’) said:
‘Feed him with sugar for ar-Rabee’ loves sugar.’
