It was reported on the authority of Wakee’ رحمه الله who said:

We went out with Sufyaan ath-Thowree رحمه الله on the day of ‘Eed, and he said [to us]:

‘Indeed, the first thing we shall start with on this day of ours is to lower our gazes.’
