Grand mufti warns on social media ‘rumors’
Grand Mufti of the Kingdom SheIkh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh, head of Council of Senior Scholars, said there are those who use social media to spread rumors, lies and superstitions with the aim of misleading people and creating discord, describing them as “naive,” who must be stopped.
Those not well versed in Qur’an ‘should not issue fatwas’
The grand mufti said scholars must not issue fatwas, or religious edicts, if they are not well versed in the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him. “If he doesn’t know he should not issue any fatwa,” he said.
