Some of the scholars say that the Prophet (sal-Allaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) granted permission for the hajj to be performed on behalf of the deceased – without [specifically mentioning] the ‘umrah.
[Regarding] the ‘umrah, is it permissible to do so on behalf of another if the person is unable [to do so himself] due to an illness?
Whoever undertakes a vow to perform hajj, and subsequently dies [without having done so], and leaves no estate [from which funds can be set aside for the hajj], would the performance of hajj on his behalf be considered a recommendation or an obligation?
If a man died without having instructed anyone to perform hajj on his behalf [after his death], then is he relinquished of this obligation if his son performs hajj on his behalf?
