Question: If a person has been tested with affliction, and has fallen into tribulation, what is it that will alleviate him of it, and how should a person seek refuge in Allaah during his affliction with this sickness?

Response: With supplication, Allaah will alleviate it from him with supplication. [So] he should supplicate to Allaah to alleviate that which he has been afflicted with, and to minimise [it’s harm] upon him. And Allaah is All-Near and the One Who Responds [to supplication]. Secondly, if this hardship or tribulation has afflicted him because of sin, then he must repent to Allaah for his sins, and this sin – for which he has been afflicted with this punishment.
