Going to Makkah or travelling to other countries for da’wah

Question: During the last part of Ramadhaan, which is better to do: Going to Makkah and remaining there for the rest of Ramadhaan or travelling to some countries which are in need of da’wah and education?

Response: Our opinion is that travelling for the purpose of da’wah is preferable for whoever possesses the ability to do so and in turn benefiting the people who are surrounded by ignorance (lack of knowledge) and persist in falsehood whilst no one comes to them to call them [to the truth]. However, if a person does not have the ability to travel because he is poor or does not have the ability to give da’wah as he has no knowledge to resolve the doubts and uncertainties, then [remaining and increasing in] worship is better for him, either in Makkah or elsewhere.
