Question: Is it permissible to lie for the sake of da’wah to Allaah?
Response: No, da’wah to Allaah is based upon the truth; there is no good in lying.
[As for lying, then] that is for reconciling; reconciling between the [disputing] people. There is no harm in lying for the sake of reconciling between the [disputing] people, [since] the cause outweighs [the sin of lying]…the cause outweighs [the sin of lying].
And likewise [is the case] between a married couple – [lying] for the sake of their marital relations, [whereby] one of them lies to the other for the sake of reconciling [their] marital relations – [then] there is no harm in that
