Question: What is the ruling regarding the one who left the maghrib prayer on the night of the wedding, and she then made it up at another time?
Response: That is not permissible. It is obligatory upon [both] the [man and] woman to pray the maghrib as well as the ‘ishaa [prayers], because [in the question] she [only] asked about the maghrib prayer, whereas the ‘ishaa prayer is more closer [to being eligible] to be left – yet it is obligatory upon her to pray both the maghrib and the ‘ishaa prayers. And it is not permissible for her to delay it beyond their [legislated] times because this is inconsistent with being grateful to Allaah عز و جل for the blessing of marriage he has bestowed upon her.
So it is obligatory she upholds that which Allaah has obligated upon her from the obligatory acts, and [in doing so] she will not miss anything from [the activities of] the marriage [ceremony] – for which she intended [to leave the prayer].
