Reference: Sharh ‘Umdatil-Fiqh – Tape No.7, Question No.49

Question: A woman gave birth a number of months earlier by way of Caesarean Section. [The doctor has advised] there is a danger in her conceiving [so soon] again in the forthcoming months, so is it permissible for her to take some pills to prevent a pregnancy or delay it?

Response: If the specialist doctors [in their professional opinion] have decided that a pregnancy so soon [after a Caesarean Section] would be harmful to her, then she can take whatever [is required] to delay the [next] pregnancy until such time she is [medically] fit for [the next] pregnancy.
